Photography in the LOFT

Downtown Pomona is loved by photographers. On any given day, there are photographers shooting in the alley, in front of fountains, in the middle of the train tracks, up against a brick wall or in our Loft.

With north & south facing windows, the unique light that seeps through the windows in our Loft, painting dramatic shadows across the wood floors and the vintage furniture. The soft light from our North facing windows is ideal for portraits, however the dramatic southern light makes for some fabulous artistic shots. The space is large enough to have both or simply move towards the middle of the space and set up studio lighting.

Many of the photographers utilizing the space fall in love with the furniture. Feel free to move a few things around push your shoot to tell a story.

Art Walk: POLYchromatic

DeMonteverde AdMay is Student Art Month and the Loft is proud to showcase Sarah DeMonteverde, a student at Azusa Pacific University

A reflection of passion for expression, heritage and diverse colors envisioned through the creative process. Polynesian influenced work, embracing color theory and movement, paired with a live performance of traditional Polynesian dance.

Sarah DeMonteverde

Sarah DeMonteverde

Currently a first-year student at Azusa Pacific University, Sarah DeMonteverde is beginning her second year in the Fall of this year. Majoring in Graphic Design, with a passion to help serve in illustrating for a cause; aiding those who want or need more of a voice culturally, spiritually, or even just personally.

Creativity has always been a strongly rooted part of Sarah’s life, but it wasn’t until she started dancing Polynesian dance that she realized how vast her passion for the arts was, as well as the love I had for intertwining culture with fine art. Though not Polynesian, Sarah has made it a point to embrace the culture with an open mind, and a willing artisan’s heart to create her own style that is influenced by both roots of the tradition of the Pacific, and ideas for the future. Whether through the making of art on a canvas, or dancing to colorful rhythms, Sarah expresses wholly her deepest thoughts and understanding of what this life has to offer.

All art is priced to sell, including prints. Perfect for a Mother’s Day gift ;)

Both environments instinctly beautiful, yet both uniquely diverse.

John studied at the Memphis College of Art and is continuing his art education at the University of La Verne. Dan RomeroDan Romero, world-renown Metal Sculpturer, will be presenting a collection of new sculptures entitled “Busting Thru!” A collection of rebardoorknobs, angst and flight. Henry & 9th Launch

We were honored last night to host the launch of Henry & 9th, a men’s accessory company featuring a new line of gentleman’s pocket squares. The Loft was full of dapper gentleman and dashing ladies toasting the future success of Jeremy Hunter, founder of Henry & 9th.

“Clothes make the man.  Naked people have little or no influence on society” – Samuel Langhorne Clemens (aka Mark Twain)

Such words underscore a universal truism:  a person’s sense of style merits the attention of others.  Thus, at Henry and 9th, we believe that even the smallest detail – yes, something as simple as an accessory – can make a substantial impression.

Inspired by the eclectic style of Red Hook, Brooklyn, USA, our company blends contemporary style with the classic suiting standards that have withstood the test of time.  Thus, whether you prefer the flare of bold patterns, or the conservative appeal of classic solids, we are confident you will find the right design to accentuate your suiting preference.

Yes, details matter.  Prepare to make an impression based on your individuality and sense of style.  In the end, accessorize your wardrobe with a view toward making an impression.

Downtown Halloween Get Down

Mosaic Pomona’s “Downtown Halloween GetDown” was a night of face painting, pumpkin carving and trick or treating around the galleries in Downtown Pomona’s Arts Colony. We opened our gallery to pass out a ton of candy and take a few family Halloween pictures, ending the night watching The Goonies in Thomas Plaza (thanks again to Mosaic Pomona).

The photos below are also on Facebook if you’d like to tag yourself HERE.
