We asked our friends over at IE Photo Rentals to judge the best photo from the July 12, 2015 TestShoot in the Loft. The photo above, by Tram Patam, won. Congratulations Tram, you won a 2 hour Weekday Photo Rental in the Loft ($300 value).

Special thanks to our local clothing stores SHOP by John Michael Villa, Debutante Clothing, Bay2LA, and Vintage Renewals for styling our models, and to Chara Nicole for the set designs. Also, thanks to Trellis Evans of Evans Eye Photography for stopping by and providing some great tips during the shoot.

Downtown Pomona is loved by photographers. On any given day, there are photographers shooting in the alley, in front of fountains, in the middle of the train tracks, up against a brick wall or in our Loft.

With north & south facing windows, the unique light that seeps through the windows in our Loft, painting dramatic shadows across the wood floors and the vintage furniture. The soft light from our North facing windows is ideal for portraits, however the dramatic southern light makes for some fabulous artistic shots. The space is large enough to have both or simply move towards the middle of the space and set up studio lighting.

Many of the photographers utilizing the space fall in love with the furniture. Feel free to move a few things around push your shoot to tell a story.

Agnes’ Birthday

Amid the art showings and workshops, we occasionally take time to open our space for life events, such as birthdays, graduation parties, bachelor(ette) parties and more. Last week’s birthday party for 1 year old, Agnes, the daughter of Vintage Renewals owners, Maria and Chris, was a beautiful event full of laughter, excitement and some of the best food I’ve had in a while. We loved the make your own Bento Boxes and the Kawaii inspired theme. The photo booth, DIY Kawaii tees and glitter tattoos were a hit as well.

We love our neighbors, so when Andrew from IE Photo Rentals across the street asked if we were available for a photo shoot in the loft…I said of course. They brought in friend and LA cinematographer/photographer Kai Streets as part of their Artist Spotlight interview series.
