ART WALK: Meet the Swodecks

MEET THE SWODECKS webThis month, we bring you a very special treat. An intimate look into our lives/passions/humor/goals via art. We present, “Meet the Swodecks”. A group show with Joshua Swodeck, Chara Nicole Swodeck & Brooklyn Swodeck.

Joshua (39) has been painting and sketching since he was a young boy. He spends his days supporting and coaching clients in branding and marketing themselves. This time, he brings his sarcasm and wit to life via words on wood, canvas and old mattress springs.

Chara Nicole (33) is a gifted wedding & event designer and relishes in the creatively bringing client’s dreams to life. She will be displaying photography by Marlin Munoz from some of her weddings and creating a table so inviting, you’ll want to sit down and eat.

Brooklyn (7) has grown up around the arts. Whether singing, writing, sketching/painting or playing the djembe, she brings life and passion to everyone she comes in contact with. She will be displaying some abstract paintings on paper as well as a few surprises.

Come by and meet the family. Join us also, as Joshua & Chara celebrate 11 years married (nearly 15 years together).

The LOFT welcomes photographer, Alexandera Godoy for her “She Will Evaporate” show.
Photographs taken by a gifted spectator attempting an understanding of light and romanticizing the search and chase of anything that slithers in the light provocatively, eats across from us, or carefully stands in the same position long enough for us to notice.
Curated by local Art Enthusiast, Abraham Jove Santos of We Love You!

Agnes’ Birthday

Amid the art showings and workshops, we occasionally take time to open our space for life events, such as birthdays, graduation parties, bachelor(ette) parties and more. Last week’s birthday party for 1 year old, Agnes, the daughter of Vintage Renewals owners, Maria and Chris, was a beautiful event full of laughter, excitement and some of the best food I’ve had in a while. We loved the make your own Bento Boxes and the Kawaii inspired theme. The photo booth, DIY Kawaii tees and glitter tattoos were a hit as well.

Photographer Kerry Sawyers of Move Me Photography caught some great shots…here’s a few that we just loved.

“Still Project” Video Shoot

We were contacted by Jonathan & Carrie Pascual of PlanetZaya about shoot a promo for their upcoming film “Still”, a full feature length documentary film woven together using the stories of families who have suffered the loss of a baby to pregnancy or infant loss. August 1, 2012 marks the 10th anniversary of the birth of the Pascual’s first child, Elena Rebekah. Elena was stillborn on August 1, 2002 at 21 weeks gestation. Since Elena’s death, Jonathan and Carrie have used their grief and experiences to help other grieving parents on this long dark road of pregnancy and infant loss.

In 2006, Jonathan left his desk job to enter the world of film making. He and Carrie then created their own film making company; Planet Zaya. Their company is named after their now 7-year old son, Isaiah. Isaiah was also born premature after Carrie spent months on bed rest, but is now a healthy growing young boy. View pictures below of Isaiah and our daughter Brooklyn hanging out on the fire escape at the LOFT.
